CT Colonography Versus Optical Colonoscopy: Cost-Effectiveness in Colorectal Cancer Screening

نویسندگان

چکیده

Purpose: CT colonography (CTC) has been accepted as an optical colonoscopy (OC) alternative for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening by some guidelines, while others maintain that the data is insufficient. CTC’s less invasive nature may improve compliance; however, cost and need colonoscopy, if lesions are detected, remain obstacle implementation. As a result, authors set out to determine cost-effectiveness of CTC in context its drawbacks advantages when compared with OC within Canadian context. Methods: Using decision analysis software, economic was performed comparing CRC asymptomatic patients. The 10-year primary outcome measure study cost, difference 100,000 patients, one quality adjusted life year gained. sensitivities, specificities, polyp prevalence rates were derived from literature. each test local data. Results: Local 764.36 CAD 580.01 CTC. In case normal OC, reassessment would not be necessary 10 years, whereas average-risk population must repeated every 5 years. incremental ratio, or additional per calculated 3,390.76 CAD.

Cost-effectiveness of computerized tomographic colonography versus colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening.

BACKGROUND Computerized tomographic (CT) colonography is a potential alternative to colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening. Its main advantage, a better safety profile, may be offset by its limitations: lower sensitivity, need for colonoscopy in cases where results are positive, and expense. METHODS We performed an economic evaluation, using decision analysis, to compare CT colonography ...

[Efficacy of CT colonography versus colonoscopy in screening for colorectal cancer].

OBJECTIVE To determine the efficacy and effectiveness of CT colonography in comparison with those of colonoscopy in screening for colorectal cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS We systematically reviewed all the studies in the scientific literature that assessed the efficacy of CT colonography in screening for colorectal cancer. We excluded articles that assessed the efficacy of other screening tech...

Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of CT Colonography for Colorectal Cancer Screening Program to Working Age in Japan

Objectives: To assess the cost-effectiveness of computed tomography colonography (CTC) for a colorectal cancer screening program in a working population (aged 40–60 years) from a health care payer’s perspective in Japan. Methods: A Markov model for colorectal cancer was constructed to estimate the long-term (10-year, 20-year, and 30year) effect of introducing CTC for three different strategies ...

Cost-effectiveness of colonoscopy in screening for colorectal cancer

Modelling A decision model based on a Markov process was used to model the total costs and effectiveness of the three screening strategies. The timeframe of each cycle was one year. The model referred to a hypothetical population of 100,000 persons aged 50 years. If the annual FOBT is negative, patients have to wait for the next annual test and if positive, patients are referred to colonoscopy....

Cost-effectiveness of colonoscopy in screening for colorectal cancer.

BACKGROUND Fecal occult blood testing, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy are used to screen patients for colorectal cancer. OBJECTIVE To compare the cost-effectiveness of fecal occult blood testing, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy. DESIGN The cost-effectiveness of the three screening strategies was compared by using computer models of a Markov process. In the model, a hypothet...
